Finding an excellent Florence Hotel

Well-set up Florence and its Hotels

Other than praiseworthy culture and architecture, Florence has worked hard towards catering to the tourists and their needs. If they are well accommodated and stay where, when and for the most convenient price they want, then they can fully enjoy their travel and city visit to Florence. And if the weather accompanies, then there is nothing more to ask for.

Four Main areas for Hotels in Florence

There are four main areas where you can find any class hotel, pension, youth hostel and even including affittacamere – or in easier words, private rooms. The easiest place to start from is near the train station and is called:

  • Stazione di Santa Maria Novella- I have tried the following place and have had nice results. Pensione Bellavista has great room service for breakfast for only 5.50 euros and if you can reserve in time, ask for one of the rooms which do not face the busy Via Faenza, with breakfast and bath it was about 60 euros. That is considered cheap nowadays! They were very helpful in booking rooms in other Italian cities. In this same area but for a little more I found Hotel Accademia which is a 18th c. mansion. The interior decoration was magnificent with stately glass-stained windows and a dazzling spiraled marble staircase. A double with breakfast was around 90 euros.
  • Piazza di Santa Maria Novella – This time I went just little further south of the station and closer to the Arno River and cathedral and found accommodation at Hotel Scoti in the commercial part of Florence. Having reasonable prices (85 euro ) does not mean that we cannot stay in a 16th c. palace with nicely decorated rooms, not to mention the main hall with frescos painted on the ceiling.
  • Between the Cathedral and Arno River- is where I found a small cheap treasure, so to say, at Hotel Dali. I was offered accomodation in a double room with bath overlooking the patio and parking for my car hire, all for 75 euros. The young couple that own it were great.
  • Santa Croce – here I let my hair down and went for a double with breakfast in a 15th c. hotel called Hotel la Scaletta for almost 100 euros. It has a terrace which gives you the full view of the Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace-well worth it!

Jumping the Museum Queue

On one of my quick but intense visits to Florence in summer, I found out that with paying 3 euros at each museum and booking ahead, you do not have to queue up at the following places: the Uffizi Gallery, the Pitti Palace, the Bargello Museum, the Accademia Gallery, the Archaeological Museum and the Medicee Chapel. All you have to do is contact the Firenze Musei - Florence Museum , either by calling or through the net and reserve. When you arrive at the places, you go directly to the booth where the reserved tickets are, pay and enjoy! Because I think that Florence and its hotel are to enjoy!
